BS8519:2020 Criteria - Cables under fire conditions

You can now set a length of a cable run which is possible to be exposed to fire conditions. ElectricalOM will calculate the rating factor (based on BS8519:2020 Clause 13 - Effects of fire temperature on cable size) and apply it to cable’s resistance based on the user's input and the worst-case temperature (8420C), which in turn will affect voltage drop calculations.

The setting can be found under the Voltage Drop Tab of the Circuit Editor. We also included a quick way of modifying the cable cross-section (phase and neutral conductors) by means of an up/down arrow combination.

You can also see view voltage drop values related to fire conditions using our Circuit details module where we added two new columns, VD fire (%) and VD fire Limit (%).
