Some users may see an error message indicating that one or more .dll files have been blocked when ElectricalOM is launched or while ElectricalOM is running.
The message may appear similar to:
The application has encountered a problem: Could not load file or assembly…This issue is caused by Microsoft Smart App Control, a Windows 11 security feature.
Smart App Control checks applications and related files before allowing them to run. In some cases, it may block files that ElectricalOM needs to load, including .dll files. When this happens, ElectricalOM may not start correctly, or some functions may not work as expected.
This does not usually mean that the ElectricalOM installation is damaged. It means Windows Smart App Control has prevented ElectricalOM from accessing one or more required files.
This issue can occur on Windows 11 computers where Smart App Control is enabled. Smart App Control is not available on Windows 10.
To resolve the issue, turn off Smart App Control:1. Open Windows Security.
2. Select App & browser control, and select Smart App Control settings
3. Change Smart App Control to Off
4. Restart ElectricalOM.
5. If the issue continues, restart the computer and open ElectricalOM again.
Note:
Turning off Smart App Control may reduce some Windows protection against untrusted or potentially unwanted applications. If an organisation manages the computer, contact the IT administrator before changing this setting.
