CAD Plan Design / Re: Uploading DWG to CAD Plan Design

In case your XREF appears on the XREF settings but you can not see it in the CAD Plan environment, I suggest you to use the Fix XREFs function which is below the XREF settings (indicated with a warning icon). This normally happens when accidentally the location of your XREFs changes.

In addition, I would like to let you know that this might be a compatibility issue with earlier versions of dwg AutoCAD files. Instead, try to save your dwg drawings in an earlier AutoCAD version (e.g. 2013) using AutoCAD or the free Autodesk software, DWG TrueView.

I am struggling to retrieve a dwg using the New XRef i have clicked on this and clicked on a drawing but unable to see it on the screen, but it shows up when you click on Xref settings it shows it there.
Is there different types of DWG.?

Hello,

To model renewable systems in the software, you can use one of the following methods.

1) You can insert a 3ph/1ph final circuit and change the load kind to a renewable source (from the load kind drop down menu in the circuit editor). This allows you to model the AC side of any renewable system (e.g. PV System, Wind Turbine) for simple cable calculations. The KVA/load rating of the renewable source will not contribute to the total connected load of its supply panel as this generates energy.
2) You can insert a 3ph/1ph AC-to-DC Converter (select Insert, Connection and then Converters) to model the AC and DC side of a Solar Photovoltaic Inverter (you can also specify the characteristics of the Inverter such as its rating, fault current, DC voltage and voltage drop).

Please see the images attached.

How do I integrate a PV or wind system into my design?

I cannot see a solution in the FAQ's

You can use the fix wiring connections function.

CAD Plan Design / Cad Plan Design - Wiring Connections

Ran into problem were in designing a circuit the wire loses either its Starting or Ending connections. See attached "Wire_Properties.JPG" for an example.

When the wire is moved and brought back to the original position, the missing field is then filled in again. Is there a way to set up the drawing so that the wires do not lose their starting or ending connections?

Hello,

For xref dwg import issues please see here: https://electricalom.com/site/knowledgebase.php?action=displayarticle&id=34

For scaling the imported xref please see this video: https://youtu.be/SUv8Q-2b3T4

When I am in the cad on section, it won’t show the dwg file I have loaded into the screen using the new x ref function. I have tried checking the layers are turned on but nothing makes a difference. The same files work perfectly in normal auto cad software.

Also is there a way of setting the layer you are inserting the scale? I am having issues with the scale of drawings when they do load agains the size of the symbols loaded into the pre programmed software

Hello,

The total VD is affected by the upstream cable. Make sure you have the upstream cable correctly sized.

ElectricalOM for New Users / Voltage drop problem
« Last post by RCDGuy on 04 October 2021, 11:32 »
I think I am making a mistake:
I have a lighting circuit (see attached) where the voltage drop is showing as unacceptable.
From appendix 4 for type B cable installation in conduit. for 1.5mm T+E for lighting my calculation is

Voltage Drop = (mV/A/m) x Ib x L / 1000
(mV/A/m) from table = 29
Ib for the circuit shows as = 1.6
L of the circuit is 15m
so VD should b 0.696 - according to my calculation

However, the VD in the app is shown as = 4.37 %

Max VD for lighting circuit is of course 3%

What have I done wrong?
